At the 2005 California Association of Local Agency Formation Commissions (CALAFCO) Conference in Monterey, the San Diego LAFCO received the Project of the Year award, in recognition of the Municipal Service Review that was conducted on Fire Protection and Emergency Medical Services in San Diego County.
