Fall Art Contest

In October of 2025, San Diego LAFCO facilitated the inaugural LAFCO Fall Art Contest.

This annual contest was designed with the overall goal of sparking interest in local planning among the future generations of San Diegans. The contest opened on October 2 as LAFCO sent a contest infographic and online submission form to all 23 elementary superintendents found through the San Diego County Office of Education.

The contest, open to all Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students in the county, invited young artists to illustrate how people can live in harmony with nature. Six main rules were established:

  1. Artists must attend an elementary School in San Diego County
  2. The art must illustrate the theme of harmonious co-existence with nature
  3. Only one submission per student; no group submissions
  4. No computer-generated art
  5. Art must be submitted with the name of the student's school, first and last name, grade, and contact information
  6. Judges will evaluate art based on (a) adherence to theme, (b) creativity, and (c) overall design. The Judges decision will be final.

By the submission deadline on October 31, LAFCO had received over 90 submissions.

LAFCO extends gratitude to all superintendents, classroom teachers, art teachers, and parents who helped make this contest possible. And, of course, a huge thank you to all Third, Fourth and Fifth grade artists that took the time to let their creativity wander in illustrating how we can all live in harmony with nature.

As decided by our judges, the 3 winners (listed in alphabetical order) are displayed below. CONGRATULATIONS!
